A new-build teaching block of seventeen IT rich classrooms alongside a showpiece performing arts block including a new community theatre venue “The Box”, a 264-seat performance space.
The project drastically increased the available teaching space, replacing modular units and a marquee that was previously used where facilities were unfit for purpose.
Two residential properties were acquired on the existing site prior to works which were demolished and replaced by an enhanced college frontage giving a much-improved identity.
Woodley Coles provided pre and post contract Quantity Surveying services and played a key role in the funding application to the Skills Funding Agency including benchmarking costs against SFA published cost models.
Extensive Value Engineering was undertaken throughout the design phase and again post tender to ensure best value in meeting the college's brief.
